So the stove just broke, I'm still unemployed, Zack may have diabetes, I've had no motivation to write for a couple months, and we have almost no chocolate in the house.

So I just finished reading the new Discworld book today. I have to say, I don't think it's going to be among my top-rated in the series. Maybe it's just me, but something just felt off about it.
That's not to say it wasn't good; it was. It just felt lacking at the end. There was some good buildup going on at the beginning, but the payoff didn't really feel up to snuff. Just kind of a 'meh' ending, which really, really depresses me, given how much I always enjoyed finishing the rest of the books.
( Spoilery negative stuff )
Okay, I've bitched about what I didn't like. What did I like?
( Spoilery positive stuff )
So, overall, it was an okay book. Not the best book, probably not the worst.

Does anyone know the scenes from The Amityville Horror with the flies amassing on the windows? It's starting to look like that here. But with ladybugs.
It's considerably less creepy with ladybugs.

I'm making up a language. Given that I am in no way, shape, or form a linguistics scholar, I am trying to keep it fairly simple. Would anyone have any advice as to what is absolutely necessary in a spoken language (not touching written, at the moment; I think that one might be more of an artist's purview).
At the moment, I'm looking at something similar to Chinese grammatically, as that as a relatively simple structure compared to Germanic or Romantic languages, but the actual vocab is using Atlantis as a springboard, so apart from linguistic drift and the usual integration of words from other languages, I'm not looking for a strong realistic basis in the actual sound of things. I'm not even looking to use the language much in universe, but having it available for characters to speak a few words or phrases every once in a while would do quite a bit.
So, basically, is there anything anyone thinks I should keep in mind while doing this to create something that'll hold up to any sort of scrutiny?

Know what suck? Phobias. They really, really suck.
On that note, Destination: Truth visited a place called the Island of Dolls tonight. Creepy fucking shit even if human-like dolls didn't freak me out. So why can't I stop watching?

So Disney apparently bought out Marvel.
Now, I only recently started reading Marvel comics again, but I've heard of relatively recent developments through typical fan channels. These developments (Brand New Day, the Civil War, things like that) make me think, "Can Disney really make Marvel do worse than they already are?"
Then I thought of a Disney-fied Deadpool, and was horrified. And vaguely amused, as he eventually went nuts and started killing classic Disney characters. Hopefully, Disney will have enough sense to just let Marvel continue on its own way.
Then I started wondering about the theme parks. I know Universal Studios has at least one Marvel-based ride (it still does, right? That Spiderman ride?). Will they have to remove all their Marvel stuff? Will visitors to Hollywood Studios eventually find Wolverine among the characters they can get their pictures taken with?
To be honest, the more I think about this, the more amused I get.

Apparently, the information I found on the Young Frankenstein tour cast was wrong (something was wrong on the internet? Horrors!).
According to the local paper, Roger Bart and Shuler Hensley will be reprising their roles, and Brad Oscar will be taking over the role of Inspector Kemp.
... And I just know I'm going to be spending the time before the theatre doors open searching for the stage door. Maybe I'll actually be able to meet him this time.

I finally found the cast list for the Young Frankenstein tour.
... I'm not sure I want to see it anymore...

Why is it whenever I come up with a bit of backstory, it demands to be written?
And now I have Cross and 'Cinth flirting in my head, which they do enough of anyway, but now instead of "exes who parted on a positive note and will potentially have another fling" flirting, it's "stumbled into long-term work arrangement and find ourselves compatible" flirting. For some reason, I find the latter version slightly more annoying.
Edit: It just got worse.

Nikko got a bath yesterday.
Keep in mind, he's 13 years old and hates water. It's the first bath he's had in his life.
And now he's fluffy. And still sulky. It's adorable.

So I just checked the school website to make sure that there weren't any issues with final grades and such, and that my graduation paperwork didn't get screwed up.
Apparently, I graduated Cum Laude.
Um. Wow.

If a virgin got pregnant through artificial insemination, would it count as immaculate conception?
Odd little interactive video I found.

I have the sinking suspicion that one of my wisdom teeth is starting to make an appearance.
Given that I currently have no dental insurance, this is a very bad thing.

Y'know, it's not the fact that people do this that surprises me. It's the fact that it apparently happens often enough for Guinness to have multiple entries for it.
